This time of year is so special. There are so many wonderful things to do and people to see. It is so easy to start to feel it as your schedule gets busy. So today I am sharing 5 ways to deal with holiday stress. These tips are simple ways you can reset and reduce any stress you are feeling this time of year.
Look at your Calendar, remove things that can be skipped this year
It is so easy to say yes to all of the things during the Christmas season. If you find yourself getting overwhelmed with your calendar of events try to remove a few things. It is nice to be able to make it to every event. However, it is much better to be in a good head space for a few less events. Saying no is a powerful way to keep stress at bay.
Take time for yourself
Have some “me” time. It works wonders. All of my parents out there allow yourself the time to step away from all the Christmas activities and do something for yourself. Book a spa day, go shopping alone or even just a long bubble bath one night with a good book.
Delegate where you can
I am very guilty of wanting to do things myself a lot. Whether it’s cleaning, putting up decorations you name it. So I can easily work myself up over a long to do list. Delegating tasks to your spouse or your kids if they are old enough will help so much! And if you have family close? Why not reach out for help. Lighten the load for yourself and enjoy this time even more.
Plan as much as you can ahead
I become stressed mostly in moments where I don’t have control over things. So I find that planning things out ahead of time makes a huge difference for me. So as the Holidays start to approach it’s such a good idea to start making lists and planning things out in advance. And it’s never too late to do this and get ahead of what you can.
Pray and give yourself grace
At the end of the day this time of year is supposed to be special. It’s a time that we should enjoy and a time where we should be focusing on what really matters. When you are feeling stressed the first person you should go to with it is God. Hand it over to him and give yourself some grace this season. We all deserve to enjoy this time. Make creating memories your priority not getting every little thing done.
I hope this list of ways to deal with holiday stress is helpful for you! Remember to focus on yourself and your wellbeing just as much, if not more, than sticking to a tight schedule. The happy memories are what stick anyway.
