I am a busy lady and with all the many things I do I often deal with stress. I am a work from home mom with two little girls that I am now homeschooling. When I am not doing that I am blogging and doing my thing over on Instagram and let me tell you it’s basically a second job (that I love). I am working on managing everything and simplifying my days to prevent stress as much as possible. But it does still happen from time to time. One thing I used to do was just work through it. yikes. Not the answer (at least not for me). So I’ve come up with 5 different way I can reduce stress when I am facing it.
Pray and Read my Bible
First and foremost I try to bring anything that is stressing me out in life to God. I am working on preventing stress as much as possible because He is in control and I usually find myself stressed out when I feel like I am no longer in control of things. So reading my bible and praying always helps to remind me of who is in control. It also offers me the opportunity to show gratitude for all of these things I have going on in my life. They are all things I have prayed for. But just because they are answered prayers doesn’t mean they will be a walk in the park. But they are a blessing nonetheless.
Read a Book and Drink Tea
Another great way for me to reduce stress is to do something I love and that can take my mind off of things. I love sitting down with a good book and a cup of tea. It allows me to not only take my mind off of what is going on but completely immerse myself into another world or place. Sometimes this is all I need to reduce stress and get my mind back on track.
There are also times where I just need to step away. If it is work that is stressing me out, for example, I sometimes find that taking a break helps. As a web designer I can find myself handling multiple projects at once. And if I get overwhelmed or stressed by my workload stepping away from my computer and coming back in 10-15 minutes usually helps.
Take a Walk
When I am stressed I find that getting out of the house and going for a walk or hike helps a ton. I love to be outdoors. For me it can be a time of peace and quiet. Usually during a walk I will also pray and chat with God about what is going on. This combination is so great and works like a charm. I usually feel ten times better afterward.
Talk it Out
Anyone else a fan of venting? This is probably my husband’s least favorite method that I use because he is usually the one I go to to talk out my problems. And I don’t mean just complain about them. I mean say them out loud, really try to understand what is causing the stress I am feeling and work it out out loud. Sometimes just voicing what is going on in my head allows me to address it differently.
So there you have it; my 5 ways to reduce stress. Let me know in the comments how you handle stress.
